Avalanche Information for West Central Montana

Education & Events

We offer education opportunities for diverse audiences. Is your organization is interested in sponsoring an avalanche safety program or avalanche transceiver workshop? Are you a teacher looking for someone to give an avalanche awareness presentation or are in need of education materials geared for a younger audience?

We have instructors available to give basic awareness and refresher classes up to and including Level 1 Avalanche as well as avalanche transceiver workshops in the Bitterroot Valley, the Seeley/Potomac areas, the Clark Fork Valley (Superior) as well as the Missoula area.

If you’d like to discuss these opportunities, please send a message using our contact form or leave a message for Steve Karkanen at 406-329-3752.

Avalanche education opportunities from other providers in the area are listed below with our programs. Please note that net proceeds from fee classes marked “sponsored by missoulaavalanche” help provide advisories and free education.

Instructors for classes “sponsored by missoulaavalanche” are Professional members of the American Avalanche Association (AAA) with years of on-the-snow experience as Avalanche Forecasters, Professional Ski Patrollers, Emergency Medical Technicians, and have experience safely leading people in high risk outdoor pursuits. Course curriculum meets the education guidelines of the AAA.
