24, 25 & 26 – Level 1 Avalanche Class for Snowmobilers – follows the guidelines of the American Avalanche
Association. There is a three-hour evening session and two full field days.
Class is Friday February 24 at 5pm in McGill Hall 210 on the University Campus
and in the field February 25 & 26.
class is limited to 10 participants. Scott Schmidt with the Friends of the
Gallatin Nat’l Forest Avalanche Center, snowmobiler and former avalanche
forecaster is the lead instructor for the class.
need a sled in good working order and intermediate riding experience.
must have an avalanche transceiver, shovel and probeA metal rod used to probe through avalanche debris for buried victims..
is $150 per participant.
